SARAH HIGGINS, LCSW, ACTP
Sarah Higgins is a Commonwealth of Virginia Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and an Advanced Certified Trauma Practitioner (ACTP). She provides psychotherapy services to adults, adolescents, and children, in the Richmond area using a variety of therapeutic modalities, including EMDR. She specializes in treating victims and witnesses of trauma as well as helping professionals that experience a high level of trauma exposure on their jobs. This includes but is not limited to teachers, nurses, doctors, 1st responders, other clinicians, and military personnel.
Sarah understands the complexities of how and where traumatic material and memories are stored in the body and has a repertoire of reliable sensory based alternatives when words just aren't available or aren’t enough. Modalities such as art, movement, meditation, breath work, guided imagery and mindfulness can be incredibly impactful tools in holistic trauma treatment and are frequently used in tandem with talk therapy as well as EMDR in our office.
Sarah’s overall clinical experience is broad and she also enjoys working with a wide variety of clients who need help managing feelings of anxiety and depression, or even just adjusting to the never ending demands of daily life.
Sarah has a strong belief in the power of the therapeutic relationship and works hard to build rapport and to establish and maintain feelings of safety with clients. It would be her honor to work with you and be a helper in your or your child's therapeutic journey. Click below to schedule a time to connect and hear more about how she can help.
